Alberta Child Care Subsidy
We got you!
It is a priority for us to ensure that you have all the support you can get to prepare to send your little one to Summit Start. In Alberta, families with children Kindergarten age and younger care can receive two supports; Child Care Subsidy and Affordability Grant.
Alberta Child Care Subsidy
Families with a combined gross income under $180,000 a year can apply and receive subsidy to reduce childcare fees.
Individual subsidy rates will be determined by total family income, the childcare
program, and the number of hours the child attends in a month. Maximum subsidy requires 100 hours to be attended per month. Children that attend fewer hours are still eligible, however the amount may be reduced.
Application Process:
-
Complete the Child Care Subsidy application online using your MyAlberta Digital ID (MADI) account.
-
Complete the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Consent Applicant Declaration and Acknowledgement form.
Transferring Subsidy From Another Child Care Facility:
-
Log into your MyAlbertaID account and update your childcare centre information
After You Apply:
-
If you meet requirements, you will receive a conditional 2-month subsidy approval while your application is being processed. If you do not meet the conditional acceptance requirements, you may still receive subsidy once your application is officially approved.
-
If you receive a conditional approval, please take a screenshot with the amount and dates and forward us a copy to ensure that your approved subsidy amount is deducted prior to billing.
Subsidy Payments:
Subsidy amounts are paid directly to the childcare provider (Summit Start) based on the amount of hours indicated on your application.
If your child attends less than the hours indicated on your application, your subsidy amount may be reduced. Don't worry - we got you! Our onsite teams will reach out to you if you are not on track reach their required hours in a given month.
Affordability Grant
-
Affordability Grant is for all Alberta families with children Kindergarten age and younger who are enrolled in licensed child care facilities.
-
Every family is eligible for this support, regardless of income.
-
Amounts vary depending on age and type of care.
-
What you need to do? Nothing. This is automatically paid to Summit Start and will reduce your monthly fees.
-
This is a separate financial support from subsidy, and comes
from the Canada-Alberta Childcare Grant Agreement.
While Summit Start is here to support our families in obtaining supports, we do not have control over these government programs, approvals, amounts or conditions.
